Welcome to Shipdham Garden Club

Our club was founded in 1973 and has been active in Shipdham ever since.   We meet on the first Thursday of most months in the United Church, Chapel Street, Shipdham, IP25 7LB and are a small, friendly club who will give anyone who has an interest in gardening a warm welcome. We have a varied programme of speakers, visits to gardens and social events, plus a Summer show.  Members from surrounding villages are welcome – you don’t need to live in Shipdham to be a member!

The details below will give you an idea of the things we do and please do explore the website for more information, but most of all please feel welcome to attend any of our monthly meetings to meet with us and explore your gardening interests.

Meetings

Most are held in the United Reformed Church Hall, Shipdham on the first Thursday of every month, except December, January, February and August. Guest speakers and Members give presentations on a wide variety of subjects with gardening and wildlife themes. The Annual General Meeting, which appoints the Committee responsible for the day-to-day running of the Society and gives Members the opportunity to comment upon any aspect of the Society, is held on the first Thursday in October. There is no charge to attend any of these meetings, other than a nominal sum for refreshments.

Shows

Our annual show is held in July each year and is open to members as well as non members. We have several trophies which are only awarded to members and held on an annual basis. You can find out more about our annual show and an entry form here

Social Events

In December we have our Christmas Party; our Annual Dinner takes place in January; in July we have an outing with a gardening theme; and in August we have an open air Saturday Coffee Morning.

Membership Fees

Our year runs from 1st October to 30th September and membership costs just £6 per person per year which in addition to our own events, covers our affiliations to the Royal Horticultural Society, Norfolk & Norwich Horticultural Society and Dereham and District Allotment and Gardeners Society giving our members access to other events throughout each year.

Non-members are welcome to attend meetings, the charge is £2 per person.
